about

„Ignaz Schick and Jacek Staniszewski met for the first time in spring 2003 at Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw after a duo performance Schick had given with Thomas Ankersmit. Schick spontaneously decided to stay in Warsaw for a couple weeks longer at Jacek's place in Praga. He was quite impressed by the general insight and knowledge of Jacek Staniszweski in terms of (underground) music, contemporary art, philosophy and culture. His apartment turned out to be a rich resource with piles and piles of MP3 DVDs all over his room. You could literally find everything in music in this extensive archive collection. Staniszewski is not only one of the most amazing Polish noise and electronic musicians of his generation, he also works as a journalist and writes about music and various other art topics. His analysis and critique usually is sharp and direct. During many walks through Warsaw and in many long conversations the two were discussing music, arts & politics. A mutual personal and musical friendship developed & the two started playing music right away. Since that time the two performed on several occasions in Berlin, Stralsund, Warsaw, Gdansk, Cologne and Munich. „Kingdom of Anarchy“ was recorded in October 2003 at Schick’s now defunct P4C Studios in Berlin-Friedrichshain. The music was performed directly to DAT with only minor edits and some mastering applied by Schick in 2020. The approaches and sound worlds of the two musicians match perfectly & blend so well that it is hard to tell who is doing what. This is a rare document of crisp electro-acoustic improvisation of the early the 2000s when the Polish experimental scene was extremely vital & blossoming.“
