about

The music of this album was recorded during a rehearsal for the duos first concert which was taking place a day after this session at the same location: Berlin's venue ausland. Chris and Ignaz had known each other since the mid/late 1990ies where they both had been active as performers and where both were exploring the thriving and in those days still shaping experimental music scene. Abrahams often came to visit town with the fabulous Australian trio The Necks and has stayed many times for longer stretches starting projects with different protagonists in the city. A meeting of this two unique artists was logical and the approaches of the two immediately interlocked. Abrahams sublime programming of the dx7 displays a highly personal and refined catalog of sounds which are contrasted with Schick's fierce sine waves, feedback/signal processing and occasional abstracted turntable noises. Next To Nothing is pure and raw electronic music, no editing or multitracking was applied.
